Since July 2020, The West Partnership Online School (West OS) has grown from a collaborative idea to become central to Scotland’s National e-Learning Offer. All local authority schools in Scotland have access to West OS and we are receiving positive feedback from across the country.
West OS is an online library of recorded learning episodes created by Scottish teachers, providing high quality learning experiences for children and young people. These recorded lessons can be prescribed by teachers to complement and enhance the learning experience the learning experiences planned for remote learning.
West OS is available to all local authority schools and early years establishments in Scotland. In most local authorities, it is accessed via Glow. (As short video on how to add the West OS tile to your Glow launch pad is available here – [add hyper link to video]). Some local authorities use their own Microsoft or Google tenancies to access through single user sign on.
West OS is a user friendly and secure platform which learners can also access independently to support their own learning and revision across the curriculum, hence our moto ‘High quality learning: wherever, whenever’.
Content is being frequently uploaded to West OS as the platform develops. We now provide video learning episodes for the majority of senior phase subject options and for all BGE curriculum areas.
Although parents and carers cannot directly access West OS within Glow themselves, we encourage parents and carer to raise awareness of this resource with children and young people and encourage them to interact with it at home to support their learning.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with the West OS team if you require further information.
